After dropping a 59-11 decision to the powerhouse University of Calgary Dinos last Saturday, the Thunderbirds (0-2) will try to bounce back and capture their first win of the season this Saturday on the road when they take on the University of Manitoba Bisons (1-1).
The Thunderbirds will be looking to improve their passing game as UBC quarterbacks Carson Williams and Greg Bowcott combined for just 57 yards through the air on 6-for-25 passing in last week’s game against the Dinos.
The Bisons’ quarterback Jordan Yantz, a former VI Raider, will be a player to watch. He rushed for two touchdowns and passed for two scores in last week’s 42-18 win against the Regina Rams in their home opener. Other key players for the Bisons include Nic Demski, a slotback with three time All-Canadian honours, and Alex Vitt, who recorded 105 yards on six catches in last week’s game.
This is the first and only meeting between the T-Birds and Bisons this season. Last season, the T-Birds split their two meetings against the Bisons dropping a 36-32 home decision before earning a measure of revenge on the road with a 28-24 win.
